Uganda eVisa Requirements

Applicants for a Uganda eVisa must submit the required supporting documents based on the selected visa type. The sections below outline the common documents required for all applications, along with the additional documents needed for specific Uganda eVisa categories.

Common Documents Required for Uganda Single-Entry, Multiple-Entry, and East Africa Tourist Visa

The following documents must be submitted by all applicants applying for a Uganda Single-Entry, Multiple-Entry, or East Africa Tourist eVisa.

Passport Bio Page Scan Copy 

Submit a scanned copy of the passport bio page. The passport must be valid for 6 months from the date of arrival in Uganda.

Applicant Photograph

Submit a recent passport-size photograph of the applicant. The photograph must reflect the applicant's current appearance and be taken against a plain white background.

Additional Documents Required for Uganda Single-Entry Visas 

Depending on the Uganda Single-Entry eVisa type you choose, you may need to submit the following additional documents along with the common requirements.

1. Uganda Single-Entry Tourist eVisa 

Flight Ticket

Submit confirmed flight tickets showing your arrival in and departure from Uganda.

2. Uganda Single Entry Conference Visa 

Invitation Letter 

Submit an invitation letter issued by the conference organiser confirming your participation in the event.

3. Uganda Single-Entry Transit eVisa 

Transit Letter 

Submit a transit letter explaining the purpose of your transit through Uganda and your final destination.

4. Uganda Single Entry Other eVisa 

When applying for a Uganda Single-Entry Other eVisa, applicants must select the purpose of their travel.

a. Family Visit (Visiting a Foreign National) 

Required additional documents: 

Host’s Immigration Status

Submit a valid Uganda residence permit or any other such document confirming the host's residence status in Uganda.

Submit an invitation letter from a family member in Uganda confirming the purpose and duration of your visit.

Return Ticket

Submit a confirmed return ticket showing your planned departure from Uganda.

b. Medical Visit

Required additional documents: 

Medical Support Document 

Provide a supporting medical document from the hospital or healthcare facility where you will receive treatment in Uganda.

c. Family Visit (Former Ugandan/Relative of a Ugandan)

No additional documents are required. Submit the standard documents applicable to all Uganda Single-Entry Visa applications.

d. Returning Citizen 

No additional supporting documents are required. Only the common documents for Uganda Single-Entry Visa applications need to be submitted.

e. Returning Resident 

This purpose does not require any additional documents. Submit the standard documents applicable to all Uganda Single-Entry Visa applications. 

f. Others

This purpose covers travel reasons that are not included under the other travel purposes available for the Uganda Single-Entry Other eVisa, such as research, cultural exchange programmes, volunteer activities, or other approved purposes. 

Applicants selecting the ‘other’ purpose must also submit the following document, in addition to the common requirements.

Additional Documents Required for Uganda Multiple-Entry eVisa

Note: Uganda Multiple-Entry eVisas are available only to applicants who have previously visited Uganda. First-time visitors should apply for a Uganda Single-Entry or East Africa Tourist eVisa instead.

Uganda multiple-entry eVisa applicants are required to submit the following documents, in addition to the common requirements:

Proof of Previous Entry and Exit from Uganda

Uganda multiple-entry eVisas can only be obtained by applicants who have previously visited Uganda within the last 1 year.

Submit a valid Police Clearance Certificate issued by Interpol or the competent authority in your country of residence.

Cover Letter Stating the Reason for Multiple Entry 

Submit a cover letter explaining why you require a Uganda multiple-entry visa and the purpose of your intended visits.

Recommendation letters from referee one (1) in Uganda 

Submit a recommendation letter issued by Referee One, a resident of Uganda, supporting your visa application.

Recommendation Letter from Referee Two (Not Required for Multiple-Entry Tourist eVisa Applicants)

Submit a recommendation letter issued by Referee Two, a resident of Uganda, supporting your visa application. This document is required for all Uganda Multiple-Entry eVisa types except the Uganda Tourist Multiple-Entry eVisa.
